In the Steward’s Report for Churchill April 30, in addition to a couple of voided claims (sales) due to injured horses (Dreamster, Global Stage) and another horse (Bozdagi) “requiring the ambulance” after the 9th race, this, they say, happened in the 7th:
“Both Broughty Ferry and Miss Tappy Tone suffered post-race heatstrokes and required treatment from the KHRC vets.” While the stewards do note that Miss Tappy was placed on the Vet’s List (hers also was a voided claim), there was no update on Broughty.
Heatstrokes – this, too, is horseracing.

Do any of these horses race again? They send them to the slaughter house. These horses are so abused. The owners don’t care, they
are just greedy.
What was the difference in how these two horses were treated that caused them to suffer from heatstroke while there were other horses being raced that day that didn’t have heatstrokes?
Were they handled roughly before the race and got more worked up than the others?
Do any of the track veterinarians OR regulatory veterinarians watch out for signs that a horse is more likely to have a heatstroke? Would they care even if they could see it coming in a certain horse?
Do any of the trainers or grooms see the signs of a horse on the verge of having a heatstroke? Do any of the trainers or grooms care? Do the racing commissioners know the signs or care? Am I being ridiculous, right now? Well, I started out being serious anyway.
With the heat & high humidity levels I`m not surprised about the heat strokes. Horses & people should not be working hard under high temps with high wet bulb conditions.
