“Pulled Up With Fatal Injury, Euthanized on Track”

In the 8th at Charles Town last night, this for Mailman’s a Flyer, in the cold, terse words of the chartwriter: “Mailman’s a Flyer was pulled up with a fatal injury near the quarter pole and had to be euthanized on the track.” He had just turned six. He was also up “For Sale” (cheap: $5,000) the day he died. Complicit in the kill: owner Built Wright Stables, trainer Raymond Ginter, jockey Luis Batista, and all those who support the U.S. horseracing industry in any way – betting, attending, watching, working in, etc.

Mailman’s last few moments…

  1. There is an article in Thoroughbred Daily News dated Mon., Sep. 26, 2022 titled “A GOOD YEAR TO HAVE A TOUGH HORSE”. This is a twist on the quip of 2022 referring to Grade One horses: “It’s a tough year to have a good horse”.
There is a picture of BEVERLY PARK running with a jockey on his back. The article goes on to say how this horse is “a blue-collar starter-allowance stalwart”.
On September 21, 2022, BEVERLY PARK won his 11th (eleventh) race out of 23 (twenty-three) starts in the year of 2022 with more than three full months of racing left in the year 2022. The jockey riding him in start #23 was Rafael Bejarano; owner/trainer Norman Lynn Cash racing his horses under the name Built Wright Stables.
(This article puts this meat-grinder treatment of a horse on a pedestal AS IF running horses as though they are machines is a good thing. Of course, it is horrendous mistreatment of a horse no matter how tough he might be!)

  2. It sounds like these two guys go together; one believes In overworking the horse/s and running them more than the horse/s can bear and the jockey brutally and sadistically over-whips the horse/s.
Charles Town welcomes them with open arms, right? Charles Town — one of the horse-killing capitals of the world.

I wonder if there will be a necropsy of MAILMAN’S A FLYER or if they’re going to dispose of the remains of the horse in the landfill and cover him up with dirt before anybody notices…?

  3. Also meant to add that this jockey is the next level of sadist.
I have actually called him out on here before, as well as to his coworkers.
He will mercilessly beat a horse even if they are winning 20+ lengths ahead and no one else is in site, and when he hits them then, it’s a full arm hard swing, not just a tap on the shoulder. Apparently he likes beating the horses just for fun. I can imagine this poor horse got his wrath during this short race, too.

  4. The horse didn’t fall but did slow down a lot. He kept running but slower and was no longer a contender in the race. I’m assuming he had something broken but he stayed up on all four legs as far as the video shows.

  5. Won’t watch. But I’m sure HISA officials will, since they’re eager to show how much SAFER they’ve made Thoroughbred racing at their newly-safe, HISA-certified Death Tracks.

  6. Norm Cash, the owner of built wright stables, is notorious for over running his horses. He is/was the owner of the famous Beverly Park, whom Patrick has written about in the past. This poor horse is another victim of his cruel abuse.
