Through a FOIA request to the Oklahoma Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at Remington last year. Because of the volume, I am posting in installments (previous ones, and also reports for Fair Meadows and Will Rogers, can be found here).
(Please note how the Remington chartwriter is utterly covering up the carnage there.)
Time to Flash, May 25, Remington T
“[Multiple] comminuted vertebral fractures with extensive areas of severe hemorrhage.” Also: “chronic gastric ulceration.” Time to Flash was three years old.
Carmelita Cash, May 27, Remington R
“RF fetlock is completely avulsed, exposing the cannon; [multiple] ruptures.” Also: “degenerative joint disease both front fetlocks; pronounced gastric ulceration.” Carmelita was three years old. The chart merely said, “in front, stumbled at wire.”
Valtrata, Jun 1, Remington R
“[Multiple] severe, acute fractures.” Valtrata was four years old. The chart merely said, “repeat performance” (she had “won”).
Tres Crystals, Jun 1, Remington R (same day as above)
“[Multiple] fractures – both forelimbs; both front fetlocks are avulsed, exposing [several] bones; complete ligament rupture right forelimb; partial ligament rupture left forelimb; tendon ruptures both forelimbs.” Also: “chronic degenerative joint disease both fetlocks.” Tres was three years old. The chart merely said, “fired, outdueled.”
Seperate Call, Jun 2, Remington S
“Agonal death, cause unknown.” The necropsy did note, however, that while unrelated to the death, there were “five 18cm-long nematodes [roundworms] in the stomach and small intestine.” Seperate was but two years old.
Roughneck, Aug 20, Remington S
“360-degree colonic torsion.” Roughneck was but two years old.
Smart Battle, Aug 22, Remington S
“Marked pulmonary hemorrhage.” Smart was four years old.
Majestic Mama, Sep 19, Remington T
“Several severe, acute, complete, comminuted fractures. The fetlock is avulsed, exposing the flexor tendons, suspensory ligament, distal cannon, proximal sesamoids, and proximal P1. These structures are coated in dirt.” Majestic was two years old and being prepped for her first race.
Family Time, Sep 26, Remington S
“Colonic torsion, intestinal wall rupture, displacement of multiple gastrointestinal organs, septicemia.” Also: “chronic gastric ulceration.” Family Time was five years old and had been raced just two days prior. That poor, poor girl.
Playinhardtocatch, Sep 29, Remington T
“Multiple acute, severe, comminuted fractures of the scapula.” Playin was two years old and being prepped for his first race.

It’s very telling about the treatment and environment that so many racehorses have worms or signs of fly eggs on them. You’d think the toxic chemicals that are regularly pumped into these horses would kill any internal parasites, but that’s obviously not the case.
Worms on top of gastric ulcers on top of advanced degenerative joint disease on top of pulmonary hemorrhages. Truly disgusting.
Sounds like not one of these horses were ever taken care of at all for anything. These horses are too young to have so many structural problems. Totally abused!
The money-grubbing sadists that ruthlessly exploited these horses should be arrested for the brutal deaths of these horses. They should not be allowed to walk outside of prison cells because these people are criminal animal abusers and killers.
Animal Cruelty is not taken seriously enough. The horses were bred to die a cruel death in this despicable gambling racket. This is horribly wrong!
