  1. I agree, the joint infection was most likely introduced because of faulty technique. Also, the stress of hard training in such young horses compromises their immune systems. Pneumonia and other infections are fairly common. This is so wrong.

Yes, Rebecca, that poor 2 yr. old so “exhausted” that he went into shock!!!
Sounds like septic “ hypovolemic” shock. But how do you get a 2 yr. old to such an outrageous state of exhaustion????
And, I just can’t imagine the agony the of a ruptured stomach and bowel…
Yes, indeed, what are they doing to the horses ? Sure looks like torture to me!

  2. Thanks for your suggestions as to why that colt had a joint infection, and one so serious that he was euthanized! It makes sense. Drug abuse, perhaps. And maybe that dirty needle. Just awful.

  3. Rebecca, I agree. When I read of the horrific injuries and physical symptoms like the ruptured bowel—(how do you rupture a horse’s bowel???) it seems beyond belief that human beings can inflict this kind of pain. It’s like a medieval torture chamber. I simply cannot understand how it is tolerated. Do none of the track veterinarians, the trainers, the owners, have a trace of a conscience?

  4. They know the truth and they don’t care.

It’s never been about life and death.
It’s never been about right and wrong.
It’s always been completely about dollars and cents.
    Period.

When you need the blessing of your insurance company to euthanize your agonal horse, it says it all. God forbid the industry’s money would dry up and they’d have to get another job like teaching, nursing, law enforcement, military service, etc.

  5. Thank God the insurance gave their permission for Ivory Senator to be euthanized, am I right? And it shows the love his connections had for this member of their family that the first call they thought to make wasn’t to the vet, but the insurance.
Exhaustion advancing to hypovolemic shock? Of a two year old? Ruptured bowels and stomachs? Seriously, WTF are they doing to horses out there?

  6. How did two-year-old A POLLITICAL DUKE get a “joint infection”?

I’m assuming that they overused him in a way that caused his joints to become filled up with fluid and they gave him a joint injection (inJection) with a DIRTY NEEDLE or they used a CONTAMINATED SUBSTANCE to inject into his joints.
How else could a young horse get a “joint infection” (inFection)?
This wanton destruction of equine lives is the aftermath of the routine mistreatment of horses in an industry filled with people who are driven by their own selfish desires and greed. Money is their god.

  7. Hi Patrick, if any of these things had happened to professional sports athletes, People would be so up in arms. Thank you for sharing this info.
