Northville Shutters; Currently, No Horseracing Left in Michigan

Northville Downs in Michigan ran its final ever race Saturday night, an event that had been coming since 2018, when the property was sold to a housing developer. The industry, however, was banking on a move to Plymouth Township, but this week that bid officially failed – a failure that we at HW were a proud and active participant in. So, at least for now, the whole of Michigan is sans a commercial horseracing track. (Northville becomes the eighth track to shutter in Michigan since 2000.) How’s that for progress?

Now obviously, the abusers, like their brethren in Massachusetts, will keep trying to find another municipality that will have them. But know that just like in Mass, we will be there every step of the way, tenaciously fighting back any and all new proposals.

  1. Yay! One less racetrack where horses are abused for purse money, wagering handle and cheap egotistical thrills.
