Through a FOIA request to the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at that state’s two tracks last year (this is part 2; part 1 here).

Armstead Cole, Aug 19, Hoosier R – “comminuted P1 fracture”

Cold But Fast, Aug 23, Horseshoe R – “[Multiple: at least four] fractures.” (The race chart gave no indication of injury.) Also: “degenerative joint disease [two limbs].”
Cold But Fast was just two years old.

Cap de Fuego, Aug 29, Horseshoe S – “sudden death in stall”

Flat Out Freda, Aug 30, Horseshoe T – “displaced fracture”

West Coast Justice, Sep 20, Horseshoe T – “fractures [both front limbs]”

Fox Valley Cairo, Sep 21, Hoosier R – “P1 fracture”

Cartel Legacy, Sep 26, Horseshoe R – “[multiple] fractures”

Starlite Run, Sep 27, Horseshoe R – “sudden death: fatal pulmonary hemorrhage”

Rodin, Oct 12, Horseshoe R – “[multiple] fractures, [multiple] ruptures” (very first race)

Force Lucky, Oct 18, Horseshoe R – “[multiple] fractures”

Quick and Easy, Oct 21, Horseshoe S – “flipped – skull fracture”

  1. Yes it is animal abuse…but no one appears to see it that way but all of us..there has got to be a way to put a stop to it

  2. A person would have to have rocks in their head to not know that this is animal abuse.
