Horse racing is not cool. People who depend on getting their kicks from seeing horses treated the way horses are treated for racing really need to get a life.
What is your problem? Don’t you know what it means to have a life without abusing horses?
Well it appears like earnest t bass does not like the truth be told about the way these beautiful horses are used..abused..and treated like shit and then killed…only for cash for pieces of trash like Ernest t bass….
Keep up the great work..Wanda
We all admire and love your words of truth!!
Stacy, thank you for speaking up on behalf of the horses, also. It’s really not about me. It’s about the horses. (It’s easier for some people to attack the messenger than it is to change one’s whole thought process.)
Wanda, you should give Ernest T. Bass’s comment all the attention and deep thought it deserves:
None.
And, hey Ernest T Bass -if you actually even do exist and you’re not a ‘bot’: I was a horseplayer and racing fan for many years, and while I don’t always agree with everything everyone says on this forum, your crude, foul-mouthed, inconsiderate, rude, and absolutely useless comment actually reminds me very much of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, who once very eloquently stated:
“It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
-Joe
Some humans have lived shallow lives…probably grew up with mommy and daddy wealthy…so never had to work a real career type job. Maybe just hang out at tracks. I don’t see a comment from an Ernest,so can’t say what a man named Ernest had said? Not WORKING…and being a fan of horse racing and gambling….well, there’s your answer of how today’s society has gone down the tubes.Just look how pathetic gambling is nowadays.Sit in your underwear and place bets on ‘fanduel’…and some people wonder WHY how pathetic society has become.
Bonnie –
I think Mr. Battuello may have [rightfully so] removed Ernest T. Bass’s one-line, expletive-laden, snide, demeaning and insulting comment. You can probably guess what he said. I saw it before it came down. Frankly, you’re not missing anything. Ernest T. Bass has to live with himself, a fate I really would not want to inflict on anyone.
-Joe
Well said, Joe.
Joe, I have no clue, I did not even see an Ernest Bass post. Shortly after posting my post…I took a misstep in a new pair of heels I was trying to “break in”, make long story short, fell and broke my big toe. So rest of evening….other things, needless to say were on my mind, and soaking my foot in ice bucket.
Bonnie-
This ‘Ernest T. Bass’ character hurled a one sentence, horrible, expletive-laden invective directed, I believe towards Wanda Diamond, serving no purpose other than to shout out a curse and an anger-fueled insult to appease his own frustration of God-knows-what.. This coward, as most bullies are, has not been seen or heard from since. No great loss.
I’m sorry about your injury. I hope it heals quickly. Best wishes to you.
-Joe
Thanks Joe, glad I didn’t even see it. I broke this same big toe as a child so there definitely was a prior weakness in the joint. I just hope you’re never tempted again to put a wager on horses. I Believe you when you say no way👍
Bonnie, the comment consisted of a total of four words. The first word and the last word were vulgar.
Basically, I struck a nerve. Evidently, whoever posted as “Earnest T. Bass” doesn’t have much of a life outside of getting his kicks from seeing horses being abused and killed for this “game” of using horses as gambling objects regardless of what horseracing does to these horses.
If anyone reads the lists of horses killed and missing in action, you know that there is a very long and ongoing list.
The abuse and killing of racehorses never ceases, as you know.
How can anyone with an ounce of empathy or compassion not care about the horses once they have learned just how bad and deeply entrenched the killing of horses is in horseracing????
But, as you know, as we see everyday, the “racing people” continue to brutalize horses and make up all kinds of lies and excuses for their misdeeds. Killing horses and throwing up the smoke-screen is all “part of the game” in this vile industry.
Out of the question. I’m done with this cruel, dying, crooked industry.
Saratoga is less than a month away. For the first time, I have no interest whatsoever in going, seeing the races, or betting. At all. Zero. I think many other people like me, former bettors, are beginning to see the light, too.
-Joe
Joe, Did you see/hear that the idea of the Belmont being run at Saratoga is on the table? The city planners up there are jumping for joy at the prospect of that happening.
Nancy-
Actually – nope. I no longer follow the “sport” I once loved in any shape, manner or form whatsoever. I get most of my information about the industry from this site, then I ‘Google’ it to see what the ‘insiders’ are saying. Usually, they’re lying, or covering up to protect their own interests.
So this is the first I’m hearing of this brilliant, tactical move. Note: Sarcasm intended.
Now, while I consider myself a reasonably intelligent and compassionate human being, I was still pretty well blown away when – thanks, in large part, to this site – I learned the truth about the actual conditions and treatment of these horses.
My logic always told me that these $100,000 and million dollar purchases would guarantee the very best of care for these animals, but not only was I dead wrong, but also quite astounded at the lengths the industry goes to, to hide the horrors of the business and insure that the general public is kept gleefully UN-informed. They do a very good job of that, but it’s getting harder and harder for them to keep up the pretense that this sport is safe.
Belmont Stakes at Saratoga? Why not? The month of the Saratoga meet is the only time NYRA shows a profit. To me, the whole thing reeks of an act of desperation.
Not for me. My horse-race wagering days are over. I get all the action I need at the casinos.
NO animal is hurt, maimed, injured or killed when I play poker, blackjack, craps or the slot machines
-Joe
It is a total tragedy that so many horses suffer and die due to the horrible sport of horseracing , supported by selfish and uncaring people.
