Battle Station Becomes 14th Confirmed Kill at Belmont This Year

Battle Station broke down while training yesterday at Belmont and, says the Gaming Commission, was euthanized. He is the 14th (confirmed) kill at Belmont this year, 23rd for the New York Racing Association. He was eight years old and had been put to the whip 53 times. The complicit: owner Sal-Lou J G Stable, trainer Domenick Schettino – and, of course, all the owners and trainers who came before, including Linda Rice.

    • Barbaro right leg and Battle Station left leg same type of injury in the hind area.

  1. Will they pretend to not have a clue about what caused this horse to be injured if they are pressed for any kind of statement?
I doubt that CBS NEWS will be inquiring about the fatal injury (or should I say injuries?) to BATTLE STATION because his racing class is not at the “world” class level. Not enough people care or know about the horses that get shuffled down and discarded to the lower levels of this disgusting horse-killing bloodsport.

  2. What cruelty to animal statutes can be used against these horse owners?
