The horse grinder that is Saratoga Race Course, again. Today, in the 1st race, it was 3-year-old Salt Cay. Dead. As you can see by the list below, this makes three kills in two days, and five in six, at this, perhaps America’s premier racetrack.
In its coverage of our protest this past Saturday, CBS 6 said that “the New York Racing Association (NYRA) sent the following statement regarding the animal cruelty accusations [ours, by the way]: ‘The health and welfare of horses and jockeys competing at NYRA tracks is our highest priority. NYRA continuously evaluates all aspects of the operation to ensure we are providing the safest possible environment for training and racing…. NYRA’s organizational commitment to safety sets the industry standard. … NYRA is committed to implementing science-driven best practices to establish and maintain safe racing surfaces and facilities and has made significant capital investments to upgrade all facilities with a focus on safety.'”
They divert, distract, dissemble, and deceive because they have to. Their product kills, consistently and inevitably.
