Through a FOIA request to the New Mexico Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at that state’s tracks in 2021 (this is part 2; part 1 here). Please note, however, that covid continued to have a major impact there, with Sunland’s meet canceled and curtailed racing at a couple of the other tracks. In addition (and as always), the New Mexico records are about the worst in the nation, so I do not believe I’m capturing all deaths. In any event, here is what I do have.

What were the connections thinking of while INDIAN WAR PAINT suffered for two days with compound fracture/s? This horse was raced on December 5, 2021 and euthanized on December 7, 2021. This abuse of horses must be punishable by law in New Mexico as well as everywhere else.
It is time to stop the racing of horses everywhere!
