Video of Happy Happy B dying at Belmont yesterday. At the end, in addition to seeing the heartless winners basking in their moment, you’ll hear the track announcer (John Imbriale I believe) utter this vile line: “The #5 Happy Happy B is a ‘did not finish’ result because he did not cross the finish line with the rider in tow.” Actually, you dolt, he was a DNF because he was in the throes of dying.
Callous and vile beyond words! It’s like a knife in the heart of any feeling being. How can humanity be so cruel!!! Kill horse racing, not the HORSE SLAVES!

Susan, I agree. The only difference is that spectators, trainers, jockeys, etc. are dressed to look civilized and presentable. Dog-fighters don’t “show up”–dressed up! Horse-racing must end. At the rate horses are breaking down on tracks, the announcers appear to be completely devoid of any compassion and sympathy. Such ugly disregard for the suffering of the horses casts a very black cloud on the state of humanity today.

These kinds of video events need to be shown far & wide so tax payers know what their tax subsidies are being used for to prop up this so called sport which in reality is just a “crummy, crooked , gamboling game” .Each time we see these types of horrific deaths it makes us more determined to inform as many people as we can about the truths we have experienced as participants in this business as we were for from 1978 until 2005.both at farms & class “B” & “C” tracks.Glad to see that someone was able to share the complete video event. We saw it live & were appalled as to how quickly the races continued with hardly any mention of the young horse whose life was snuffed out way to soon. The webcast went to an extended ad while the poor young horse was euthanized & removed from the track.

Sadly, we have seen the use of spurs & heavy whips used at our now thankfully redeveloped 1 mile track. Will never forget the sight of 2 young horses scared out of their wits being forced to gallop down the backstretch in am training time with the use of stock saddles, whips & spurs! Of course those horses were all over the track not really understanding what was being asked of them to do.

This is completely unforgivable. That poor horse…I agree with “fredjoan”—this murder needs to be broadcast far and wide so ALL people will see what the “sport of kings” (Ha!) is really about. also agree with Keri…there was no one to console this sentient being as it lay broken and dying. says a great deal about what “racing” people really are about. Truly heartbreaking and heart wrenching. My soul is crying.
Not even a word about what happened to Happy Happy B even when we saw exactly what happened at the finish line. These people are disgusting! BAN HORSERACING altogether to save all the horses!
Humans are so adept at being evil and cruel all for profit at the expense of the most innocent beings. Heifers are still babies when rape racked forced to give birth and ultimately calves are torn from these new moms hours after birth all for the dairy industry. Many calves are destined to the farm factory abuses of their mothers and males to the ugly veal industry. Horses are bred to have lighter bones to run faster and babies as well when put into training for the racing industry. Their bones are not strong enough to handle the constant beating on the track and most of the time injuries are the cause if their devastating falls. Race horses are also locked in stalls every hour of the day except running on the track, that in itself is abuse, confinement hours on end. Where does it end or when will it stop? My heart aches for all sentiment beings suffering abuses.
What heartless, gutless, soul-less POS, that’s right , celebrate your prize money and five minutes of fame whilst ‘just another horse’ lays writhing in death throes. No doubt the race course carried on with its planned races with the owners, trainers, jockeys and crowds giving NO thought to the innocent, defenseless horse that died for their greed, fun and entertainment.

This innocent colt was only 2 years old! He has three workouts and three races listed on Equibase. They killed him in his third race. He was a baby.
What is it with this industry that Equibase can dare say that the jockey named JOSE L. ORTIZ, who was thrown out of the saddle and did not finish the race because his mount, HAPPY HAPPY B, did not finish, finished FIFTH????? HAPPY HAPPY B is listed as DNF under his Horse Profile. JOSE L. ORTIZ is listed on Equibase under Jockey Profile as having ridden horses in many claiming races. Happy Happy B was not a claimer! He was raced as a Stakes horse. He should have been turned out to pasture and allowed to grow into maturity!!!! All horses should have the luxury of not being EXPLOITED to death by vile human beings!!!!!
State sanctioned, society sanctioned cruelty at its finest. These magnificent animals are used day in and day out. The only importance they have to anybody involved in the “sport” of horse racing is the amount of money they can bring in. It’s tragic that with all the people in this country who are hungry and without the very basics of living other people would rather gamble their money on a “sport” where EVERYONES hands are filthy from the cruel and inhuman treatment these animals are forced to endure. And the scholars and politicians scratch their heads and ponder why American society is in a downward spiral. LACK OF MORALS. ITS OUTRAGEOUS!

I felt so sorry for that horse as it died alone. There was no one present to assist the horse or show any concern. This is so horrible and proves that the racing of horses must end.
