While not all the “vanned” end up dead, most do, as borne out by our year-end FOIA reports. But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold. (For any new confirmed deaths during the week, please see our running annual list.)

  1. I had read that Awesome Debate sustained a sesamoid fracture and, if rehabbed, the plan is to sell for breeding stock.

  2. So many horses were INJURED permanently from being EXPLOITED by people who are not true horsemen. True horsemanship is beyond the scope of these money-grubbing, horse-abusing, horse-killing DEGENERATE gamblers.
In 2022, I expect that the treacherous ABUSE of horses will continue at the same rate. I can only wonder at this point that when the laws governing horseracing change ever so slightly per the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act if the Federal Trade Commission will be able to effectively slow down some of the horrendous ABUSE of horses that leads to the DEATH of these unfortunate and victimized horses. Possibly one horse here and one horse there will not be raced under heavy doping, but I can only speculate about that. HISA can only SUPPOSEDLY keep the doping more monitored (I think) but, in order for horses not to be killed by racing, HORSERACING ITSELF being INHUMANE & INHERENTLY CRUEL, horses EXPLOITED by this crooked gambling industry will continue to be hurt, INJURED permanently and killed. HORSERACING is so sickening!!!

    • HORSERACING must be recognized as the ANIMAL CRUELTY that it is and be BANNED & THE SOONER, THE BETTER!!!

  3. These motherfuckers racers and race tracks should be shut down and they should be killed! Enough of the animal abuse! Enough of the animal abuse!

    Sent from my iPhone

  4. Anyone not familiar with racing might think this list is for an entire year, not a mere WEEK. And how many more training injuries and stall deaths were NOT reported?

  5. Flat Scat, a 4-year-old one-eyed filly, was a DNF at Evangeline on September 3. Five days later she was in a Louisiana feedlot. My understanding from what I was sent and read, she wasn’t rescued.

  6. What a sad short life.
A life of cruel exploitation ending in the terror and horror of slaughter,
The “lucky” horses in this nefariousness business die on the track.
The racing industry is unscrupulous, bereft of morality and human decency.
