While not all the “vanned” end up dead, most do, as borne out by our year-end FOIA reports. But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold. (For any new confirmed deaths during the week, please see our running annual list.)

  1. When the racing meet is over at Ruidoso, it’s possible that some of the horses will be shipped to Los Alamitos Race Course for more ABUSE, EXPLOITATION and TORTURE. The everyday brutalization, cruelty, physical and psychological trauma to the horses will continue at one of Southern California’s most notorious horse-killing hell holes, “so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold.” How sick it is for people to turn to Animal Cruelty and ABUSE for recreation and entertainment!
There was a “shortage” of horses for a certain class of lower-level Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos Race Course. For that reason, the Friday night race card was cancelled there. This is blatant and obvious evidence that horses are so expendable in the horse racing industry, but just one example among so many examples!

  2. These sick freaks who call themselves “officials” are getting even worse with their so-called INTEGRITY, even as the hilariously-titled HISA draws nearer. Guess they figure injuries and van-offs shouldn’t be reported on charts as often, because, hey, these notations make all the upstanding cretins involved in racing seem (even more) like cruel, animal-abusing, horse-killing, degenerate-gambling blood sport enthusiasts.
Just today, Colonial Downs reported — and then retracted — an Equibase chart notation about a horse getting vanned from one of its fun-for-the-whole-family steeplechase races. And Parx did a couple of their classic “lost contact, DNF…The End” and “injured in paddock/gate…scratched” comments. But at least Parx didn’t ALTER THE RECORD to try and make themselves look less inhumane; they just failed to elaborate on their horrors.

I think every U.S. racing “official” longs for the day when breakdowns, van-offs, falls, on-track euths, lamenesses, bleds, hobble-offs (“walk-offs,” they like to call ’em), and sudden deaths will no longer make their way on to the public record. That way, they’ll easily have us all convinced how safe and kind horse racing is;)

    • Speaking of withholding the details on the full scope of horrors of the Animal Cruelty known as HORSERACING also known as the Sport of Kings, the owner of the 2-year-old filly, BOLD AND BOSSY, said that the filly just got a “little scrape and that’s it” on the television show, INSIDE EDITION.
So what are we worried about???????????????
Doesn’t everyone know that there is nothing wrong with a baby horse being forced to gallop FAST carrying weight on a racetrack as though the baby horse was a fully developed adult horse????????????????????????????? Doesn’t everyone know that there is nothing wrong with shipping a baby horse in to a strange place that the baby horse has never been before and expecting and demanding that the scared, unseasoned traveling baby horse perform as though she was a seasoned adult horse???????????????????????????????? (I could go on and on and on and on.)

WHY, for the sake of “protecting” the MORALLY DEPRAVED “horsemen” (cringe 😬), can’t those people who are capable of being empathetic to the plight of the horses and the suffering (AND PREMATURE DEATH) inflicted upon them, just go away??????????????????????????????
