While not all the “vanned” end up dead, most do, as borne out by our year-end FOIA reports. But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold. (For any new confirmed deaths during the week, please see our running annual list.)

  1. These horses are carted off the racetrack in dire circumstances, most of whom die a painful and unacceptable death.

Can someone in the horseracing industry explain to me why these horses suffering fatal injuries and dying as they do, is OKAY by it? “it” being the horseracing industry in North America, Canada, Australia, the UK, Hong Kong, Japan, etc. etc.
    every horseracing jurisdiction globally.

Scientific veterinary research, especially in North America and Australia, has found that most horseracing deaths are preventable. YES! that’s right!
So WHY global horseracing industry do you ALLOW these horses to suffer sickening break downs and die on a daily basis?
In the USA it appears to be on a daily basis and in Australia it’s one horse every three (3) days. I don’t have the stats for other countries.

Is anyone in the horseracing industry able to give me an answer?

  2. BODEMEISTER WIND is owned by Maggi Moss. Need I say more?

      • Maggi Moss is an attorney as well as a Thoroughbred horse owner. She is profiled online. She races horses to catastrophic breakdowns and subsequent death. Of course, the description of her on the Thoroughbred Owner View online paints a glowing picture of her, because it is a pro-racing organization supported page.
