While not all the “vanned” end up dead, most do, as borne out by our year-end FOIA reports. But even if death is not the ultimate result, the above are victims nonetheless, suffering painful injuries – in the case of the bleeders, pulmonary hemorrhage – so that some men may gamble, others chase pots of gold. (For any new confirmed deaths during the week, please see our running annual list.)

  1. Yet another heartbreaking list of maiming and killing.
Horse racing supports and reveres their serial theriocide killers – racehorse killers who repeatedly kill racehorses with zippo repercussions that would otherwise qualify them for a jail term under Felony Animal Cruelty Laws in any other setting in this country.
These kills are from September 2020 to March 2021 in only 1 state New York. It’s important to note that the following serial killers have multiple racehorses killed under their custody in other states as well during this same time period. It goes without saying that they’ve maimed hundreds and killed many more over the years.
Upon analysis there were so many “trainers” with repeated kills that I had to narrow my scope for space.
Ladies first – serial theriocide killeress LINDA RICE with her most recent victims NIIJI a baby filly and NISBET BEACH another baby filly barely 3 both killed at the hands of this serial killer.
Never to disappoint or be outdone is racehorse serial killer TODD PLETCHER his most recent BIG LUTHER. Barely 3 y.o. owned by Mike Repole yet another victim of this team. BLACKJACK euthanized due to wobbler. Let’s not forget UNRIGHTEOUS owned by Calumet Farm, didn’t cut it as a stake horse, collapsed and died during training. CHIEF COMMANDER – purchased for $550,000 by the infamous and mysterious China Club whose involved with no less than 27 separate syndicates, all buying 6-figure racehorses with a high rate of deaths when they don’t perform. CHIEF COMMANDER was lame when he returned from breezing. Turns out he fractured his pelvis and was euthanized. Pretty lame wouldn’t you say? TP had multiple kills in Florida during this time period. This dude has been nominated to the Racing Hall of (Sh)ame.
JEREMIAH C. ENGLEHART whose latest victims include AFLEETING GLANCE who had 2 previous DNF’s than he ran him right back finishing last or near last by lengths. Since he didn’t kill him in the previous DNF’s he made sure he got the job done only it took him a little longer. WE SHOULD TALK made over $244,000 struggled through his last 4 races, but Jeremiah Englehart had to kill his victim because that’s what serial killers do. No lush green paddock for any of them just a disposable trash heap. The killings continue unabated with TIED UP made over $144,000 and the same owner of WE SHOULD TALK Moshe Mark – effective killer team. BEARS MAFIA made over $212,000. KALICHE GOLD killed him in 1 start sent him to the hell hole Finger Lakes to get the job done. Just when you thought there was no more there is: SAMBORELLA – a baby filly barely 2 years old dead. That’s 6 dead racehorses that we know of and, apparently, he kills many more at off track training centers, but can’t confirm.
Rudy Rodriquez. A self-admitted doper, cheater and killer. Yet, this business still licenses him to kill some more. He didn’t disappoint. HYPERACTIVE CHRIS. send out to die. Went down in the dirt, Euthanized. DAYTIME DOLL barely 3 didn’t make it to a race. Broke some bones while breezing, took a nose dive in the dirt and euthanized, in other words, killed in action. OH MY PAPA. threw rider while breezing probably due to the rider beating the crap out of him, but anyways went down in the dirt, killed, euthanized it’s all the same. The killing continues unabated with SKY OF HOOK. Barely 3. “vanned off” back to the barn with multiple injuries that necessitated another killing. Not done yet. HIGH KNUCKLES. A baby, barely 2. Broke down. “vanned off” to the barn where multiple bone breaks necessitated another kill. That’s 5 dead racehorses and more in Florida. Not including the hundreds this parasite has maimed and many more killed before this list.
Now, this is a business who proclaims that their “safety measures and reforms” are working. You would have to be a delusional mentally challenged person to believe the bullshit being spewed from this killing business.

    • Correction to list re: AFLEETING GLANCE “trained” by Englehart.
AG has 2 previous DNF’s – 1 In his 2nd start 7/11/2020 and 1/21/2021 so it seems obvious that AG has some serious issues going on and has been present for some time.
In previous posts, I’ve often claimed that when a racehorse “stumbles badly” especially coming out of the gate it usually indicates there’s something wrong which happened in his previous DNF.
Yet, Englehart keeps running him and this shows blatant disregard for the horse.
However, he wasn’t killed in action and I followed up with the stewards yesterday before posting so they must have got him mixed up with another dead racehorse which is easy since there are so many dying.
Nevertheless, my apologies for this, but it doesn’t change the fact that Jeremiah Englehart is a serial killer.

  2. Wow, Turf Pairo’Deaths was even more ghastly than usual last week. Must be all that rigorous enforcement of Horse Safety Standards they got going on in the desert. In fact, the highly-respected “regulators” at the Arizona Racing Commission should consider devoting an extra 30 seconds to discussing the efficacy of those standards at their next public meeting.
Okay, not really. Keep it short and sweet, as usual, Commissioners: “Time for this month’s Safety Report. 14 dead horses. Next item on the Agenda is…”
