How many more, California? How many more? Two horses were killed in the 1st race at Los Alamitos (Thoroughbred) this afternoon: Into a Hot Spot collapsed and died after finishing some 26 lengths back. He was but four years old – still an adolescent. Mighty Elijah was “injured, vanned off” and eventually euthanized. He, too, was four.
To date, at least (I haven’t received all FOIA information yet; private farms/training facilities are not reflected here) 100 horses have died at California tracks in 2019:
Del Mar: 11 dead racehorses
Golden Gate Fields: 20 dead racehorses
Los Alamitos Race Course: 19 dead racehorses
Santa Anita Park: 42 dead racehorses
Alameda County Fair, Pleasanton: 3 dead racehorses
Big Fresno Fair, 2 dead racehorses
Humboldt County Fair, Ferndale: 1 dead racehorse
Sonoma County Fair, Santa Rosa: 2 dead racehorses
Is there any possibility of getting any kind of explanation of what caused the collapse of INTO A HOT SPOT?
I’m sure a thorough impartial investigation will be conducted.

Rebecca Paquette, I suspect it was a combination of drugs, both legal and illegal, plus the obvious over exertion forced onto this young horse and being over stressed in a dehydrated condition. The jockey may have used a shocking device on INTO A HOT SPOT in the starting gate and possibly during the race in addition to the obvious “riding crop” also known as the riding whip. If that wasn’t enough to kill the horse, someone in the barn area may have kicked the horse in the gut, although I can’t say for sure. Someone could have administered another drug, too, as far as I know. I can only speculate by logical deduction because I wasn’t there and I did not see what happened first hand. I don’t know how any person could see this firsthand and not be emotionally disturbed from the CRUELTY AND TORTURE these horses have to have FORCED UPON THEM.

Because internal injuries “just happen” to horses all the time for no reason at all. Honestly could these people be any more disgusting? (And no, that’s not a challenge).
Thank you, Patrick. I thought I read that about injuries somewhere on a different post. You confirmed it. I was thinking of what kind of internal injuries; internal bleeding caused by something that the owners and trainers refuse to admit and refuse to disclose because it would be self incrimination to give a full disclosure on the cause of the “internal injuries” to the horse, INTO A HOT SPOT.
Into the hot spot was struggling in this race, far back enough that they didn’t even bother to wait for him to cross the wire on the replays. He should have been eased, even though that probably would not have saved him. But to imagine that this horse was slowly dying and the jockey still pushed him on to finish the race so that he would not be a “DNF” is sickening.

ONE HUNDRED (100) innocent horses were killed on just one track in California in a year – utterly inexcusable.
Makes me feel sick in the stomach!
More than one track because SA is closed now until after Christmas but that is where many of the breakdowns took place. Los Alamitos is also in LA area and is mostly for Quarter horses (1/4 mile approx.). The gate opens and the race is almost over. Fast, fast, fast. For a short period they run Thoroughbreds. Hollywood Park has since closed and is being developed into housing, etc.

Mighty Elijah is #8 for Jerry Hollendorfer at 4 different tracks in less than a year. He just had Koa break down a few short weeks ago. He needs to be banned from everywhere, but yet he is going to fight his ban from Stronach tracks in court! there are still racing apologists defending this piece of trash! This is how much they care about horses- who’s defending and protecting his horses?
Peggy, I want to know if there is going to be a group of attorneys that will defend the victims of this CRUELTY AND TORTURE. We already know that there are attorneys defending the perpetrators of this CRUELTY AND TORTURE.
I have seen the photo of Steve Asmussen online. Steve Asmussen looks like and has a record of “the epitome of evil” and, as you have pointed out, JERRY HOLLENDORFER also fits the description of THE EPITOME OF EVIL!
I can’t begin to tell you how disgusting this whole thing has been to me humans are so greedy, when I initially saw on the news how many horses had died on that race track within such a short time all I kept saying to myself was why don’t they make it stop why can’t they just shut the race horses down permanently all over the world this is cruel and it’s absolutely disgusting to whip a horse, and raise the poor animal to its death how would you like it if someone whipped you and wrote on your back until you couldn’t live anymore. Stop!!!! 😭

What’s very strange is that there are no Official Workouts listed under your charts.
It’s mandatory to have an official workout prior to entering a race and there doesn’t appear to be one.
An Official Workout is supposed to show and determine that a racehorse is sound enough to run and it’s also used for wagering purposes.
It seems obvious to me that they knew something very serious was going on with you and they, more or less, sent you out to die.
I’m sure the doping/vet/treatment records would be like a road map leading up to your horrific destination.
These parasites made $345 to watch you snap your legs-off and die in the dirt.
Your legs tell the story and I’m so sorry for you.
