  1. I can’t stop looking at all the pictures of Mongolian Groom, what a Handsome horse he was, just visually spectacular, what a sad,sad waste of precious life. The sin of it is …it was TOTALLY avoidable, TOTALLY!!! When the hell are those veterinarians going to be charged with animal abuse?!!!!!!

    • Or the owners, or the trainers, or anybody that enables these people to cause injury to any racehorse and then continue doing the same basic things that cause injury and death of racehorses day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year for decades. That would include the people from the insurance agencies that pay out money to the owners when the horse is injured/euthanized/killed.

  2. AGAIN AND AGAIN I HAVE ASKED YOU WHY NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE AAALLL THAT INFORMATION AND EVIDENCE I HAVE NEWER GOT AN ANSWAR ARE YOU LIVING ON PEOPLES MONEY WHITOUT DOING ANYTHING

    • Wait. What? Did you just ask Patrick Battuello, of Horse Racing Wrongs, why “nothing happens” and then suggest that he’s not “doing anything”? That’s kind of funny, given that it’s hard to find a horse racing story — outside the minutia of racing’s “journalists,” who exclusively cover blood sports — that does NOT mention him and this site.
Open your eyes. U.S. horse racing is swirling down the drain as we speak. And its demise is largely due to his efforts.

      • Thank you Kelly,
I don’t follow horse racing closely enough to know all the latest news except for this website/blog. The national TV news has reported on the Santa Anita race track and about how bad it is for the horses. But, of course, the so-called horsemen do not stop racing their horses there.
If it were not for this blog, a lot of the general public would not be aware or informed of the degree of fatalities of racehorses at other tracks.
With the “horseracing world” making efforts to sweep every fatality under the rug, it would be extremely expensive to just be able to have the technology and publications to do any investigative journalism to provide enough information to anyone outside the dark world of horseracing.
The Daily Racing Form is out of reach for a lot of people because it was cost prohibitive for me and I have never subscribed to it. I confess that I once did have an interest in knowing enough to win money on $2.00 bets but I now am glad that it worked out to where I no longer can overlook that horrible dark side of horseracing causing the absolutely unnecessary deaths of so many horses.
I watched YouTube videos showing a yearling being ridden and worked at her top speed until her front legs snapped making a loud noise and she went down. It was a filly being prepped for the so-called “prestigious” Fasig-Tipton Sale. It was enough to make me realize what kind of hideously cruel people are claiming to be horsemen when in reality they are perverted monsters that should be doing time behind bars!!!!! But providing documentation to prove it has to be a tedious and time consuming job for certain!

      • Hi, Wanda! Glad you’ve joined the growing legions of former fans/supporters of this anti-sport. Before I’d ever heard of Patrick and this site, I was afraid to comment on a racing platform about my utter hatred of this cruel and corrupt industry.
Now, I don’t worry about getting shouted down by the thugs still spouting racing’s rhetoric. They’ve finally been herded into their own little bubble: TVG, NBC, DRF, TDN, BH, et al. are all on the defensive now. They’re still (lamely) lashing out, but with the dawning realization that their bubble is about to be popped.

    • Kelly,
I don’t receive any channels that you mentioned. I have seen stuff on paid TV in the past that was about horseracing. I used to get NBC but it doesn’t come in on Free TV now for whatever reason where I live now.
I lost all desire to watch the major Grade One races because it is so much dishonesty, greed, corruption and ANIMAL ABUSE OF HORSES. I always am impressed at their beauty but I don’t want to add to the NBC network’s ratings either anymore.

      • Me neither, Wanda (about adding to NBC’s ratings, that is.) I’ve sent them several e-mails and tweets, because I think it’s important that network executives are made aware of how damaging their exclusive coverage of major horse racing events has become to their brand. I have hope that they’ll be re-thinking this coverage, or at least toning down their usual, insipid pre-KY Derby promotions:

“All the star-studded pageantry. All the glamour. All the celebrity and the royalty will come together (to watch abused animals get whipped across some dirt) as they proclaim, ‘Aren’t we highbrow? Aren’t we superior?'” etc.
Who knows? Maybe NBC will even bow out of this public dumpster fire altogether. Doubt it, though.

Oh, and TVG is the only other station I am aware of that promotes televised horse racing. The others cover racing (and cover for racing) in various print/digital formats.
