Two Kills at Mahoning, One at Penn

In the 4th yesterday at Mahoning, says Equibase, Classic Reward “had good early speed, pulled up injured entering the turn and was euthanized.” Classic Reward was 10 years old; this was his 70th time under the whip.

Later in the day, in the 4th at Penn, Blu Moon Ace “tracked the pace on the outside, suffered an injury at the five sixteenths pole and was euthanized.” Four years old.

I have also confirmed that Black Jules, a “pulled up in distress, vanned off” in the 4th at Mahoning Tuesday, is also dead. He was three; this was his third race.

Young, old (for the track, that is); new, worn – it doesn’t matter. Racing maims and kills without discrimination. If you’re a bettor, please stop. Go to a casino, play online poker, buy some scratchoffs. Let the animals be.

  1. I’m disgusted, appalled, and repulsed by the ongoing suffering, and deaths of racehorses on tracks all over America.
To all you apologists: WHAT exactly does it take for you to STOP supporting and partaking in these killings?
Is there anything that is enough for you, is there any bottom that you need to reach??
Any normal, rational, and compassionate person couldn’t support this carnage, mayhem, and blood bath.
You are NOT good, you are enabling these deaths just from your participation in this vile business.
So sorry CLASSIC REWARD, BLUE MOON ACE, BLACK JULES – you were all victims of this horrific killing business, and we will continue to be a voice for you.
PLEASE, I implore anybody who bets on racehorses to STOP supporting this.
The racehorses need your voice, they need your help, and the best way to help them is to STOP supporting and/or participating in this death ring.
