NY, 2017: 96 Dead…and Counting

Red Cash, six, is dead after breaking down in the 3rd at Saratoga Harness yesterday. The Gaming Commission also reports that Rule the City was euthanized at Belmont “after becoming endotoxic following surgery.” Presumably, said surgery had something to do with the 3-year-old’s lone start (Belmont) back in July – “eased, DNF.” To date, 96 racehorses have perished at New York tracks in 2017. Wondering if that fun fact will make it into Empire State tourist materials anytime soon.

  1. The carnage continues unabated.
These innocent horses being sacrificed day in, day out.
And here we are living in a civilised society in the 21st century….?
Doesn’t sit well with me and I suspect wouldn’t with any decent fellow human being!

  2. VILE.
This business is so disgusting that it’s beyond words sometimes.
Any person with half a brain, and half a heart wouldn’t support this carnage.
So sorry for more victims of this antiquated business model.
