  1. These are a hell of a lot of deaths — all premature — all due to abuse and extremely hard work — TO END THESE HORRIFIC DEATHS : No more betting, no more attending, no more patronizing racinos. — PLEASE, DO IT for the horses.

  2. 44 innocent horses die in just 6 months in just one state ……. ? In 12 months that number is likely to double resulting in about 88 dead horses………
    Horrendous
    Indefensible
    Cruel
    Unjustifiable
    Unethical
    Inexcusable
    Unacceptable
    Vile
    Repugnant
    Repulsive
    Abhorrent
    Nauseating
    And so very, very SICK!
For how long does the racing industry think it’s going to get away with this?
These horses are being brutally and callously sacrificed whilst racegoers party, drink mint juleps, dine, bet and behave as though horses breaking down and suffering excruciatingly painful injuries/deaths is acceptable.
Hard to believe that we are living in the 21st century.

  3. This industry needs to drop dead in the dirt just like all the racehorses.
    This is so despicable.
Anybody with an ounce of intellect or morality would want this vile business shut down!
The facts are here, and they are dismal.
On some of my prior comments I predicted (about 20 deaths ago) that it was going to get worse, and it has.
Foal crops that are probably affected by residual drugs in their Stallion and/or Broodmare who conceived them, physical overload on under developed muscoskeletal systems, doping cocktails, and shock wave therapy.
Furthermore, short rest times between races with increased racing days at racinos, and lower horse population to fill their inhumane demands on a living being for their stupid bets, and wagering profits.
The commissions, probably under pressure to fill races, permitting just about anything to enter with zippo protection for racehorses whose PP’s are so obviously blatant animal cruelty.
NO oversight from outside agencies is another factor with the delirious President of the Humane Society, Wayne Purcelle, accepting money to legitimize this animal cruelty.
Kentucky passing a law that, more or less, protects racehorse abusers by classifying them as livestock.
One of the largest racetrack operators, Frank Stronach’s Magna International, seems to be deliberately ensuring that replays of racehorses dying during races are either hidden from view or eliminated completely.
My goodness fighting dogs (pit bulls) have more protections than racehorses!
Not to say that they don’t deserve it or anything, but just saying.
This business is like alcohol – so socially accepted, but yet can be so deadly, and it most certainly is to the racehorses.

  4. Thank You Gina!
    Excellent points.

HSUS is especially troubling as this is one group who could really help STOP horse racing for good by exposing the truth.
