owners are greedy pos bastards. There is not one who cares for their horse. If they say they do then tell them to stop racing. Liars
Yes attendance at tracks are down….but there is so much online betting keeping this cruel industry going…Stopping the racing of babies need to be taken seriously…their bones are not fully formed ect…
I agree, Rose…as do many racing insiders and supporters by the look of the PR article’s comments regarding Hip #28. Hip #28. Makes me sick.
A Risky Peace – a July birthday – very odd. He would have been 5 on July 18…also very odd that this race was his first start.
Yes- it was the owner/ trainer himself. He was hoping to be able to save the horse so he could be a riding horse hopefully, but the surgery would have been too risky. He is heartbroken over it, he wanted the best for the horse and sadly, in the end it was the best option to put him down. The only positive note- if there is one- is that the broken extremity was sent to the Grayson jockey club so that it could be studied.

The way these 2 year olds in training are forced to run during the sales is blatant abuse. Even someone I know in the business said it should stop . Plus, these very young horses are pumped full of steroids in prep for the sales to make them look “good” !! Thy soon deflate but I wonder what damage is already done to their very immature bodies.
The abuse starts before the horse ever reaches the track and then continues until he dies, from injuries or is loaded onto the slaughter -bound truck.
As we know. The 2yr old in the sale is made to run HARD in hope of an impressive time and, consequently, more $$ . The Green Monkey comes to mind. He sold for a huge sum and had a super time but turned out to “disappoint” . He was then sent to the breeding shed….
My point is that these “impressive” times do not mean much and this form of abuse continues because this the way they do it and they do it that way in hope of more money.
What a disgraceful business.
Found out A Risky Peace sadly had to be put down. Too much damage to his leg.
And the hits keep coming today – at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream 2yo under tack show- hip #28, who technically wasn’t even 2 yet- broke down during his run. What an absolutely gorgeous animal he was. And still a baby running at unnatural breakneck speed. And at Louisiana Downs, in race 4, one of the quarter horses fell horribly after the wire. I’m sure outcome is bad. Announcers comment? -Oh that’s pretty much the same spot we had another one fall the other day!– What?? Really??
The more I learn, the more I know THIS pastime, THIS sport, using, exploiting and abusing horses MUST come to an end — I’m learning attendance has been dropping over the past years — let’s continue this positive trend and ensure these magnificent animals get happy, healthy and normal lives with those who genuinely care about them.

Am extremely saddened by A Risky Peace, Got to see him grow up, as some former connections of mine had bred him. He was a gorgeous little boy that I had hopes to be an elegant dressage horse someday. Watched his race replay…. not sure of his outcome but it didn’t look hopeful.
Kingston Bay collapsed and died on the track :-( Suspected heart attack.
