  1. My deepest sympathies to all racehorses who died on Iowa racetracks thus far.
I shutter to think about all the racehorses who have died on all racetracks prior to Patrick starting this Death List.
It would have to be in the thousands for sure.
In addition, as mentioned, many racetracks refuse to disclose the racehorses who die during training hours.
Then there are the PRIVATE training tracks all over the country who have NO transparency or accountability if you can imagine that.
PRIVATE training centers don’t report deaths because they are self-managed.
There is not one neutral (no financial interest) agency that is protecting racehorses from dying for $2 bets.

  2. Hi Patrick,

Have you already filed an FOIA request for California? Thank you, Chris

  3. “multiple carpal fractures” means that Ventures Galore suffered a horrific death when either one or both knees broke whilst racing.
Having witnessed this on a track near me when a filly broke both knees, I cannot begin to tell you how sickening it is.

    • D D Chicks Piloto also suffered ‘carpal fractures’.

Most of these deaths that Patrick has listed were as a result of catastrophic limb injuries.
There was one shoulder (scapula) broken.
      Not surprisingly many sesamoid fractures.

Jayne Wayne not only suffered a complete open broken knee but the bone above her knee (metacarpal) also broke.

      This is horseracing.
