Rillito’s Dead, 2015

After several requests, I finally received documentation on Rillito Park’s dead from last year. The response, however, strains credibility – but two horses killed in a spring meet that spanned three months. That said, here they are:

6-year-old Praise a Native, February 14, Rillito 5

10-year-old Lisasfinishline, March 29, Rillito 5

  1. Patrick, I don’t think (we who love and value horses), thank you enough
for all the work that you do on their behalf. May God give you the desires
of your heart because you are doing exemplary work in educating the public
about the crimes within the industry. The evidence you put on the table is irrefutable!

  2. Yes, Patrick, thank you for this exposure to the very, very dark side of horse racing. Shame on those greedy, heartless owners, trainers and yes, the jockeys. All are guilty of pushing and pushing these animals who aren’t sound enough to run. And yet, a horse will give all it has to please their master. Blessings on you and the work you do.

  3. According to RILLITO PARK (Arizona) ONLY TWO (2) RACEHORSES DIED in 2015.
Perhaps the racing officials, administrators, vets and the like all had a bit of a memory lapse?

    6-year-old PRAISE A NATIVE, February 14, 2015
This dark bay gelding was a rising 7 year old having been foaled in April 2008 according to equibase.com
    http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Results.cfm?type=Horse&refno=8364507&registry=T
In his penultimate race he, according to equibase.com’s Chart, “failed to menace”. He was no threat to the other horses (referred to in the racing industry as rivals) and one might ask what was the point of him being there. He was there as a “filler in” for the race cards, the betting factor, the bigger the field the better and of course to earn money for his connections. Who gives a damn if this horse was on his last legs and not up to racing?

In his final LETHAL race he, according to equibase.com’s Chart, “broke down and hauled off”. This horse breaks down and they HAUL HIM OFF with no disclosure of his injuries and whether or not he was euthanased.

What I’d like to know is what did this horse die from?
    a fractured limb
    a fractured suspensory apparatus
    a fractured pelvis
    a fractured spine
    a broken neck
    a severe bleeding, or
    some other cause

According to equibase.com PRAISE A NATIVE’S connections as of his last start were –

    Trainer – Santiago G Lowe
Owner – Santiago G Lowe and Mario Morales
Breeder – Jerry D Woods & Howard Belvoid
    Career 30: 4-4-4 for $27,803

And, according to Rillito Ractrack/Arizona Racing Commission, there was only one other racehorse that died at Rillito Racetrack during 2015, just ONE other horse, and it was –

    10-year-old LISASFINISHLINE, March 29, 2015 http://www.equibase.com/premium/chartEmb.cfm?track=SUN&raceDate=02/03/2008&cy=USA&rn=6

This gelding in his final LETHAL race according to equibase.com’s Chart
“fell in stretch, vanned off”. Yep that’s what happened to him, he fell, he was put in a trailer/ambulance and that’s it. End of story insofar as the Rillito track and the racing industry is concerned. Once again no transparency or disclosure.

What I’d like to know is what did LISASFINISHLINE die from?
    a fractured limb
    a fractured suspensory apparatus
    a fractured pelvis
    a fractured spine
    a broken neck
    a severe bleeding, or
    some other cause

According to equibase.com LISASFINISHLINE’s connections as of his last start were –

    Trainer – Robert Acosta
    Owner – Robert P Acosta
    Breeder – Harry Joseph Allen
    Career 45: 8-9-4 for $110,146 (earnings per start $2,448)

This gelding was obviously raced into the ground over a period of SEVEN (7) YEARS and 3 months. 31 of his starts were in the insidious Claiming Races. There’s no escaping the fact that this gelding was raced into the ground until they got the last drop of blood out of him.

This is horseracing – a blood sport.
