Last night’s 6th at Delta (Equibase): “CHRISTY’S VOW chased the early pace from the outside, stopped, fell and was euthanized.” That’s it. Gone. Prior to dying, the 4-year-old filly had been raced 15 other times; most recently, October 16 at Delta, she came in last (of 10)…54 lengths back. Trainer/owner: Patti Turner.
Also, the NYS Gaming Commission reports that 3-year-old Banker’s Boss was “euthanized on [the] track” after breaking down while training at Belmont Monday. He was last raced November 5 at Aqueduct.
CHRISTY’S VOW came home FIFTY-FOUR (54) LENGTHS last in her previous start on October 16 at Delta. Almost 7 weeks later this filly is sent out to race AGAIN at Delta. For CV to have come home 54 lens in the first place evidences that she was most certainly not fit for the purpose and highly likely was suffering an injury/condition. She breaks down and dies when she’s forced to race again – that should be no surprise to anyone! Highly likely she raced with a pre-existing injury/condition. The writing was on the wall and no person/entity intervened to protect her. What was in this trainer/owner’s mind to send her out to race again?
And why did the Stewards and vets permit her to race again? It appears that the cause for her fall and euthanasia is not disclosed…….? Just another death!
