Two More Dead at Aqueduct, Toll at 23

Since recording 20 kills in its first 3 months (of current meet), Aqueduct’s been relatively quiet recently. But you knew it was just a matter of time…

Yesterday, two more, and in back-to-back races no less: In the 3rd, 4-year-old Subtle Humor “took [some] bad steps” and was “vanned off.” The David Jacobson-trained filly was then euthanized back in the barn. In the 4th, 2-year-old Con Sneaky, under the whip for only the second time, “broke down approaching the eighth…[fell] heavily to the track and was humanely euthanized” (on-track). Richard Metivier trained.

  1. Another mere baby, Con Sneaky born to die in the dirt at this killing field they call Aqueduct, and 4 year old Subtle Humor, another victim at this miserable track; I wish they would shut it down. Marlene Thornley

    • Aqueduct is a horrible place built on landfill, surrounded by jammed packed freeways and next to a huge international airport. And the death count would be higher but for the hiatus due to the severe winter.
The poor filly, Subtle Humor, did not have much of a chance in the clutches of the guy honored for the most wins, Jacobson. The fact that this guy is still training and starting horses says all one needs to know about how the industry values the horse and how above board the business is !!!

RIP Subtle Humor and Con Sneaky you are now free from this abusive business.
