Of the 37 Thoroughbreds, the official Equibase charts had 20 as merely “vanned off,” 1 as having bled, and 2 others as having finished without incident. Only 2 were said to have “broke down,” and just 1 was reported euthanized. Add the fact that the harness charts are even less descriptive and that the training carnage is completely hidden from view, and we get this: As far as the public knew, Illinois lost but 1 racehorse last year, not the 47 we reveal today. The Big Lie on full display, yet again.

  1. Racehorses are dying for $2 bets. This business model is antiquated, and despicable. I no longer support an industry who exploits both equine, and human athletes. This business would never be able to start up in the current business climate or the 21st Century. The horse racing business model consists of: maiming, crippling, killing, doping, cheating, sexism, racism, and exploitation. People who support this industry live in a bubble, and they deliberately keep the wagering public in a shroud of secrecy while delivering a dishonest product via the exploitation of racehorses. BAN horse racing now.

  2. Exactly, Patrick..the BIG LIE. So as you said, add the training deaths to these 47 dead horses…then in addition to that, the number of dead horses increases with those that were slaughtered. THE BIG LIES.
