Cool Under Fire Dead at Parx

4-year-old Cool Under Fire – ridden by Daniel Centeno, trained by Alejandro Maymo, and owned by Kazdan Racing – is dead after breaking down at Parx yesterday (race 8). The gelding’s notes read like a bad joke: “vied for command well off the rail, battled gamely to the wire.” Oh and in a follow-up sentence: “broke down…humanely euthanized.” Thank goodness we know how he fared – showed and won over $5,000 – before he died.

  1. Oh how very sad! Rest in peace, dear fellow. The irony of it all! He did what his owners/trainers wanted – he won money for them. But he didn’t get the chance to do what the rest of us wanted for him and all the other victims of greed – to be loved and treated as a HORSE, not a commodity. Yes, this is horseracing :(

  2. Yes, another life lost to greedy owners/trainers and racetracks. I hope they bury in hell for their cruelty and disrespect for life the God has blessed us with.
