The California Horse Racing Board has confirmed that 5-year-old Mel’s Game, reported as vanned off after the proverbial “bad step” last Thursday at Santa Anita (1st race), did in fact die from his injury. The gelding was running – via a whip – for a share of $21,000 for his connections – jockey Tyler Baze, trainer Philip D’Amato, owner Nicholas Alexander.

Yes, the proverbial “bad step” along with the worn out phrase…”it was an accident”. The racing enthusiasts are always trying to deflect from the fact that the Sport of Kings is really the Sport of Destruction. RIP Mel’s Game…racing killed you and I’m sorry that your life wasn’t worth more. You were just a baby….
