According to a source at the track, 4-year-old Kingston Jamaica broke down (in both fronts) and died while practicing Thursday morning at Belmont. Born in Ireland, the colt had raced three times in the States, all for Todd Pletcher/Gary Barber. This marks Pletcher’s third NY training death this year.
Earlier in the NY week, another 4-year-old, Just Mizzy, died of an undisclosed reason at Finger Lakes. In her last two races, both in May, the filly finished second-to-last and last.
All for a $2 bet…the racing apologists must feel so good that they are part of the carnage. Remember…without the betters, there would be no racing!
