Florida: What Happened to These Injured Horses?

Florida, as I’ve relayed, is among the worst recordkeeping states. In fact, I have recently confirmed that the racing commission there isn’t even being made aware of fatalities (more on that to come). With that in mind, follows is a list of 95 horses who were injured while racing at Florida’s two tracks, Gulfstream and Tampa Bay, in 2022 and 2023 – and have not been heard from since. (All, except for the two noted, were ambulanced off.)

  1. It’s dreadful to think about what some people are capable of doing to horses in Florida. Within the last seven years I have seen reports online and videos about the types of illegal slaughter in Florida. It was reported that horse meat sold for $40 per pound on the black market in Florida a few years ago. It’s definitely sickening any way you look at it.

  2. We Thought Thoroughbred After Care (TAA) Was On Top Of All The Horses?

    • That’s exactly what the horse racing industry people want you to think, Dennis Johnson.
If they saved One horse out of One-Thousand horses, they would be tooting their horn and sweeping the other Nine-Hundred Ninety-Nine (sick, injured and/or dead) horses under the rug. That’s how they roll. That’s one reason why people need to be educated about how it really is in this despicable industry.
