Fell, “Trampled,” Dead at Keeneland; Video of Horse Going Down at Horseshoe

High Go was killed yesterday at Keeneland in what the track referred to as an “incident.” For its part, the chart said the 3-year-old fell after “bumping with rivals.” Worse yet, another horse, Tobin Lee, “trampled [his] fallen foe.” Imagine that.

Tuesday, 4-year-old The Kid Pataky fell at Horseshoe and was subsequently “transported home in the equine ambulance.” Here is how that looked:

  1. And for the record, horses do not have “rivals” and “foes.” Riduculous use of language to make it sound like the horses feel competative toward each other and want to be there.

  2. Go For Wand’s breakdown was what made me see what horse racing is. Sports Illustrated, and various tv news magazines did stories following her death, that told what was happening to these horses. Raced before they were physically and mentally mature. Drugged to mask pain, illegally drugged to make them run faster and longer, pent up in stalls for most of the day, many shuttled from track to track with never seeing a pasture. Then, if they were no use as a riding horse, or healthy enough to be trained for another discipline, if they were geldings, if they didn’t have the kind of bloodlines that look great on paper, if they’d not had a good enough race record to make breeding them another opportunity to get money out of them, these horses often ended up in a Canadian or Mexican slaughterhouse. It made me sick. And when I saw our tax dollars going to support this industry that is no longer popular, I got mad as well. All horse racing is, is government sanctioned animal abuse.

  3. Mongolian Groom one of the saddest stories…the poor horse holding his leg up probably in agony. Just another nightmare culumated by this horror story called horseracing. I just don’t get how anyone cancondone this..I don’t.

  4. High Go, was sired by same stallion as Mongolian Groom ….two tragedies 🤬

  5. High Go suffered fractured right shoulder and subsequently euthanized for that reason. Keeneland runs in April and October. This is the first fatality so far. Pathetic..

  6. THE KID PATAKY, a filly/mare, was born on April 21, 2021. She is listed as DNF in one place on Equibase and as Finished 12th in another place on Equibase for the very same race on April 7, 2026.
It looks like the owners collected $550 for their callous exploitation of this young, immature filly/mare in the race where she Did Not Finish and/or Finished 12th even though she did not cross the finish line.
Horseracing really is despicable cruelty to horses!
