Through a FOIA request to the Oklahoma Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at that state’s tracks last year (this is part 2; part 1 here). Please note, however, that the Commission added this: “[We] have reason to believe that not all of the reports are in our system yet, so you may want to circle back in a few months.” Not included in this batch was 2-year-old Pyc Party Boy, who, as you will plainly see in the video below, took a horrific fall Nov 2 – a fall I cannot imagine many horses surviving.
Goldstruck, Jul 2, Fair Meadows R
“Broke down 3/8 pole: comminuted LH fracture with multiple displaced bone fragments and associated extensive hemorrhage.” Also noted: “The right hindlimb has a condylar fixation screw present [from previous break].” And, listed as an “incidental finding”: “approximately 20 stomach ulcers.” Goldstruck was four years old.
Buck Lake, Sep 19, Remington T
“[Multiple] severe, acute fractures with partial tendinous rupture and soft-tissue maceration.” Also: “chronic degenerative joint disease.” Buck was just three – “chronic degenerative joint disease.”
From the Heart, Oct 11, Remington R
“Complete fracture of carpus plus additional fracturing.” From the Heart was five.
Aslan Returns, Oct 13, Will Rogers R (euth Oct 14)
“Fell past wire: multiple displaced fractures, surgical repair refused.” Also, again as an “incidental finding”: “multiple ulcerations.” Aslan was four.
Sweet Candy, Oct 31, Remington T
“Complete, acute scapula fracture with associated hemorrhage.” Sweet was three and being prepped for her first race.
Shawn Again, Nov 6, Remington S
“History of seizure-like episodes which became more often.” Shawn was 11.
Moro Lingerie, Dec 19, Remington R
“Complete, comminuted, and partially displaced fractures of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metacarpal bones; extensive hemorrhage.” Moro was six.
Since Jan 1, 2014, when Horseracing Wrongs began the unprecedented work of reporting kills in the U.S. horseracing industry, 507 (that we know about) horses have perished at Oklahoma tracks. That’s 507 beautiful, intelligent, sensitive beings sacrificed for nothing more than $2 bets. Are we not better than this, America?

PYC PARTY BOY was a 2-year-old maiden claimer with five starts. He looks like he was struggling for a few strides before he broke down completely.
How can anyone with a sense of right and wrong watch this, let alone participate in this, hideous cruelty to horses and say they “love” horses???
Horseracing is made up of so many toxic people. These horse killers belong in prison.
Horse racing is the sickest shit ever. May these abusers ROT 🤮
1/4 horse races! Short races known for their much greater risk of intense injuries. Thankfully we only rode a few 1/4 `s at the track. We have seen 1 race of a Thoroughbred mare even worse than this one ! Last day of racing in 2004 in 2nd race at Portland Meadows where a mare broke both front legs at the top of the stretch! We had been galloping that mare some mornings. That poor mare had been receiving shock wave therapy EVERYDAY for 2 weeks including the day she raced! That of course was illegal. The trainer who we galloped for had his own machine which he carried in a large briefcase right past the track front gate security noses! Security of course never or rarely stopped & searched anyone. Were so glad that track is gone & the horse are no longer having to suffer abuse.
