Dame Laura Confirmed Killed at Turfway; Two Kills on Same Day at Belmont

These from the NYS Gaming Commission…

Hard to Say, Belmont, Mar 3: “Horse sustained injury while breezing near the 3/4 pole; euthanized after examination and diagnosis.” Hard to Say was four years old.

Royal Riddle, same track, same day: “Horse suffered a severe RH injury [in stall, presumably] – euthanized.” Royal had just turned three and had last been raced Feb 14.

Also: Dame Laura, you might remember, “suffered an injury and was transported off” at Turfway Feb 20. As I’ve said often, this combination – “injured/vanned” – usually results in death – and indeed that is the case here. From the KY Commission: “After diagnostics were performed, it was confirmed that the filly had suffered a catastrophic injury to her left foreleg and she was humanely euthanized.” The filly in question was two years old.

This – dead “athletes” every day – is horseracing.

  1. I worked on a farm and Lothian Maryland I lived there for 8 years. I have seen an unbelievable amount of abuse that was covered up and neglected injured dead horses on that property animal control called botulism as far as I know not reported to the local authorities. I was injured over the farm owner and management stupidity not only did the horse have to be euthanized I mentioned too all out of abuse and stupidity. I watched the horse before he was put down these so-called manager whipping the injured horse with the whip to make him get up so he wouldn’t die in the doorway of the stall. Yes I have wipe marks on the horse to prove it. Yeah and I need surgery I want this business shutdown I want these people punished for what they’ve done to these horses it’s brutal and cruel. I watched two babies die and I can’t even tell you why because there was nothing wrong with them when I left the farm to go do my errands have you feeling that was insurance though. There was also a border I don’t remember his name but I remember his older man drove a black truck that was two babies of his through botulism which we we got sick too and they never told us it was botulism and I lived there

  2. The way they write “After diagnostics were performed, it was confirmed that the filly had suffered a catastrophic injury to her left foreleg…” sounds like a Three Stooges skit except for the fact that this is actual killing of an innocent animal. It sounds incredibly stupid to say “after diagnostics were performed” when the injury was a CATASTROPHIC injury and would be obvious.
Do they think saying the words “examination and diagnosis” makes them sound smart???
It was and still is stupid to break all the rules of common sense and common decency which causes fatal breakdowns in young and underdeveloped colts and fillies for their morally depraved cruelty of racing and gambling.
Running horses to broken legs and other CATASTROPHIC injuries is not smart at all. Using elementary medical terms just makes them sound incredibly stupid on top of being morally depraved!!!!!
