In a FOIA request to the Nebraska Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at that state’s tracks last year.

“Stumbled, fractured ankle.” Fricketts was two years old and being prepped for his debut.

“Colic, diarrhea – died [just died, not euthanized].” Thatta was three years old.
Shrekk, Mar 12, Fonner T
“Fractured shoulder.” Shrekk was seven years old.

Sweet Stroll, Mar 28, Fonner T
“Acute aneurism – died [just died, not euthanized].” Sweet was five years old.
Zen Warrior, Apr 5, Fonner R
“Fractured sesamoid, [ruptured] suspensory.” Zen was six years old.
Western Tourist, Apr 11, Fonner R
“Compound fracture.” Also: “chronic arthritis following [prior] surgery.” Western was four years old – “chronic arthritis.”
Patmo, Apr 19, Fonner R
“Collided [with another horse], knocked to the ground – euthanized.” Patmo was three years old.
Chive Up, May 15, Fonner T
“Fractured sesamoid.” Chive was six years old.
Hard to Come By, May 18, Legacy R

Go Forever, Jun 13, Columbus R
“Compound fracture.” They also noted “previous surgeries.” Go was five years old.
Mr. Big Shot, Jun 15, Columbus R
“Acute pulmonary hemorrhage, [sudden death].” Curiously (though not really), the chart said, “fell, taken off by ambulance.” So, the ambulance was merely carting a 1,000-pound dead “athlete.” Mr. Big Shot was eight years old.

These poor young horses! We have a 21 year old chestnut gelding who still gallops real fast at times. He`s never been raced as is true for all of those here in our herd. We will NEVER allow them to be raced. We have had environmental workers in Eco energy efficiency industries want to buy horses from us so as to have them as tax deductions when they raced them! We said NO multiple times! Have to protect your Thoroughbreds from unscrupulous people at all times.
Where is the petition to send these horse killers in Nebraska to jail for their crimes of abuse and neglect of horses? I will sign it!
