2-Year-Old at Belmont: “Catastrophic” Neck Injury, Dead

This for Five Bars at Belmont Saturday, according to the Gaming Commission: “Horse fell near the 7/8 pole injuring her neck – catastrophic.” She was but two years old.

Because of the ongoing rebuild, Belmont Park has not held a single race this year. And yet, they have still managed to destroy 27 beautiful, intelligent, sensitive beings there. When, America, is enough enough? End the cruelty. End the killing. End horseracing.

  3. Please end horse racing. There are other forms of entertainment that do not involve cruelty and death.

Thank you for finding other more humane forms of entertainment.

  4. FIVE BARS was raced twice in her very short life. She won her first race at Saratoga. She was last raced at the Belmont at the Big A (whatever exactly that means). I have not been to these NYRA racetracks so I don’t have that perspective of what it really looks like compared to the pictures in the internet.

The people of the New York Racing Association have a lot to answer for in the killing of so many horses and the squandering of so much taxpayer money.
