2-Year-Old Killed at Santa Anita

The CHRB says that Whole Shebang broke down training at Santa Anita Monday and is dead. He was two years old and coming off his second ever race.

Dead “athletes,” every day – this is horseracing.

  1. Marie, Mr. Mullins will, if he reaches my age of 70, will have a ruined body as bad as those poor horses that we galloped at the track! A very dumb & foolish thing to do with oneself or ones horses! Were only here because we left racing forever in 2004 while we could still walk away. Also went plant based foods from an injury we were very lucky to eventually walk away from. Check yourselves out with a GOOD comprehensive blood test!! Would have never went back to riding horses if we had known of having only 1 kidney!! Americas health care non-system is very poor. RH kidney failed in 2001 & NO ONE called & informed us despite having a C12 test yearly since 1999! We thank God everyday having been helped away from the track by a good Kentuckian on May 10th, 2004. Thanks Elmer!! He left himself in June, the last day of his contract as a backside maintainer crew member. We also were threatened by vets, trainers, owners after our experiences. This “Crooked, Crummy, Gamboling Game” can`t disappear fast enough for us.

  2. I saw this horse’s trainer, Jeff Mullins, in an interview the other day. I’d heard the name, but never really knew anything about him, so I looked him up. The first thing that struck me about him was- weirdly creepy. He is a competitive body builder who obviously has no qualms about using chemical “enhancements” for more muscle mass. The more I looked around, the more I realized he has that same mentality towards his horses. He has been suspended for clenbuterol and milk shaking, and clenbuterol- surprise- has steroidal effects on horses and can increase muscle mass.

  3. For the people of the California Horse Racing Board to admit to a “training” kill/death, I believe it had to be very bad. Otherwise, they would be dragging it out and waiting 72 hours to kill the injured horse so they would not have to admit to the kill.
WHOLE SHEBANG was foaled in 2023, sold at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky auction as a Yearling in July 2024, raced two times with Mike Smith as his jockey in 2025, and killed in 2025. Sickening!!!!! This is the routine commodification and egregious mistreatment of horses for racing and Pari-mutuel gambling. This is Animal Cruelty.
