The CHRB reports that two horses were killed over the weekend: 4-year-old Mirinda, who, per the race chart, “took a bad step” at Los Alamitos Saturday; and 5-year-old Starry Heavens, who was felled while training at Santa Anita Sunday.
Dead athletes every day – this is horseracing.
RIP, Mirinda and Starry Heavens.
It is mind-boggling that these horses are so beautiful and awe-inspiring in so many ways and yet these morally bankrupt people in this so-called sport can cause injuries and death to these beautiful horses as a matter of routine and as a matter of fact.
