The NYRA cruelty show may have moved on from Saratoga to Aqueduct, but horses remain, and are still being trained, at the former. And this, according to the Gaming Commission, just happened there yesterday to 3-year-old Uncle Hulka: “horse flipped over…sustaining severe head trauma; transported to [hospital] where he was euthanized due to injury.” Uncle becomes the 21st victim at Saratoga this summer – a number which equals the all-time (at least since 2009) high. Horseracing becoming safer? Please.

There appears to be no cessation in sight.ln the UK the numbers are lowe r than in USA but the injuries are worsening.
I wish it could be stopped. An old expression comes to mind.lf wishes were horses beggars would ride. Not appropriate l know but shows how we rely on horses. They can only rely on a comparative few of us to treat them well, numbers wise and those who care suffer what what the wicked do.Thank you.

Can you believe the audacity and stupidity of Mattress Mack shipping his horse, RUNHAPPY, to South Korea. That’s a guaranteed death sentence for the horse even if the Koreans use him for anything else first. Last stop, the slaughterhouse in South Korea. What a dumb@$$ the white boy is!!!!!
Does the New York Racing Association have any intentions of stopping this deliberate and premeditated cruelty to horses?
Why would they say they create so many jobs and demand the $455 million State-backed Bond Loan (past tense) if they had any intentions of stopping this abuse that causes injuries to so many horses?
The Bond Loan guaranteed that the Video Lottery Terminal payments and the various other subsidies would not be stopped to horseracing and redirected to education and infrastructure.
The movement to stop the original subsidies including the Video Lottery Terminal payments became a non-issue since the approval of the $455 million State-backed Bond Loan.
The people at the NYRA are responsible for allowing this willful abuse and killing of innocent sentient beings for their source of revenue. They know that forcing underdeveloped colts and fillies to gallop under the weight of a rider carrying a whip and possibly a buzzer causes breakdown to the horses’ bones, ligaments, tendons, soft tissues and organs. They know it and they say they have the safest racing. They are guilty of violations of Animal Welfare on a daily basis. This daily routine mistreatment of horses must be recognized as the Animal Cruelty that it is!
