This, according to the NYS Gaming Commission, for Silver Skillet while training at Belmont Monday: “reared and collapsed – diagnosis, sudden death.” Silver was five and had been put to the whip 22 times, most recently at Saratoga Aug 22.

  1. The cause of death could have been internal bleeding from the heart or the lungs or the abdominal cavity. Without a necropsy, there can be no official diagnosis.
    Electrocution by lightning strike can be ruled out as a cause of death — sudden death — for SILVER SKILLET.

    We don’t know why Silver Skillet dropped dead, but we know racing killed her.
    Sudden death is not a diagnosis!!!
