  1. Bonnie, there are a few American born people who have slept in the barn with the horses at the track & private barns that we we`re riding & grooming. We`re some of them. The trainers did not like it! When it was the last race & the cooling out of the horse had you miss the last bus to your room at university on a cold, rainy Oregon early am. Rather than walk another 2 or 3 miles, tired from working all day, we always sleep in the barn. Had to choose the right horse though! Did that many times at tracks all over Oregon. Lucero Mundo & Cache Whistle are the 2 we slept in the barn most times with. Sometimes later in the am we would find our shoes had been removed & buried in the straw bedding.

  2. While I’m a big believer in activism…if the illegal stall barn workers got deported, this evil gambling killing machine….would be DONE. Dead on the spot …you’re not going to get native born Americans to clean stalls and bathe horses day in day out….And,to live in the barns.

  3. Washington state has banned the use of certain animals as entertainment in circuses. Hopefully, eventually horseracing will be banned due to the fact that horses suffer horrendously unimaginable pain and fear by being used as entertainment in racing.
The people of West Virginia will be hit hard when healthcare and food assistance benefit cuts take effect in 2027 so we will see how that might also hit the low end people at Charles Town and Mountaineer.

  4. Marie, you’re correct…that breakdown was sick….yet, these EVIL scumbags continue. There’s a special place in Hell for animal abusers. It doesn’t matter where the track is,they ALL are animal abusers….losers not working REAL jobs,Kill innocent animals for a “paycheck”🤮 may these sick humans all rot.

  5. Today the Test Stakes is being run at Saratoga. I will never forget last years Test Stakes, when the gorgeous Maple Leaf Mel snapped her right front leg, fell, and was euthanized.
I have to think her death certainly made an impact to casual fans

  6. Fabulous Ronda! The more people who are made aware of the misuse of their tax $$ supporting this ” Crooked, Crummy, Gamboling Game” the better. No hard earned taxpayer $$ should ever be used to prop up this industry. There`s a reason why the private interests gave away Pimlico for only a $1 to the state from what we have read.

  7. Hi Everyone,

I have been posting Patrick’s updates on NEXTDOOR, the neighborhood listserv. The posts reach thousands of people in the area and many people are learning. It’s really important in Maryland, especially my area which is the Pimlico Racetrack neighborhood, because our state government is going all out to keep Preakness going, with millions in subsidies. Most people are not aware and when they become aware, they are upset. I’m hoping to recruit more people in Baltimore to our organization. If you have NEXTDOOR, it’s a great way to share the bad news.
