Yesterday at Vernon Downs, according to the NYS Commission:
“Western Ohio was found dead in her stall by security at 6 am. Owner Christopher Lawton advised [horse] was having trouble breathing after training on Jul 1 and was treated with antibiotics and placed in her stall.”
Dying alone, in a tiny box, surely in pain and terror. Poor girl, evil industry.

I can’t imagine leaving a horse alone that was having trouble breathing. Just gave her antibiotics and hoped for the best? It doesn’t say that she was seen by a veterinarian. These people should not be allowed anywhere near animals.
Having trouble breathing sounds like something that requires treatment that would involve a lot more than giving antibiotics. I suspect the owner had expected to write her off on his taxes as a loss if she died so why bother to give her oxygen or something that would ensure she lived. No horse deserves this kind of abuse and neglect.
