The NYS Gaming Commission says Oronero was “euthanized due to laminitis” at Belmont Tuesday. He had just turned two and was being prepped for his first race. Poor, poor boy.
Then this note from Presque Isle yesterday: “Partner Tours was kicked pre-race when rival to his inside reared up thrashing about.” Partner was “unloaded,” examined, and raced. The “thrashing about” horse, on the other hand, was scratched. He is (was?) One Last Bid, and he had just been raced by his loving “connections” – Louis Ulman, Walter Vieser, and Lance Stokes – one week prior.
This is horseracing.
This is the same group that would end all breeding of Thoroughbreds. Killing the breed and ending 25,000 foals born per year. I’m sure they wouldn’t be buying or paying for a thoroughbred for their kids to play with in the backyard. Nope they stick to the little puppy dogs . Keep that breed going.

The forcing of young horses to race or be confined to a stall more than 10 hours a day and train for racing is part of the fundamental wrongs of exploiting horses for racing and gambling.
All individuals who claim to be a good person while they are actively engaged in this daily routine mistreatment of horses need to take a closer look at what they are doing.
There are some pictures of skinny Thoroughbreds posted on Facebook. It’s obvious that they have been starved. One picture clearly shows the protruding hip bones of the starved horse. I think his body score would be a 1 or maybe a 2. The horse is shown in the picture standing up. I don’t think he could make it standing up on all fours for a long haul to a slaughterhouse in a foreign country.
These people who starve and dump their horses are not good people at all. People who do this to horses should be in jail. They belong in the Hall of Shame.
