Broke Pelvis, “Found Deceased” Six Days Later

The NYS Gaming Commission has belatedly disclosed a training kill at Belmont: “Spooky Lady, trained by Rudy Rodriguez, sustained a pelvic fracture while galloping Jun 1. Horse was examined at Cornell and returned to barn then was found deceased in stall Jun 7.”

Horrible. This poor girl was six years old and had been put to the whip 23 times.

  1. Wanda, as far as I can determine, it is over 240 miles from Belmont to Cornell Equine Hospital and a round trip would involve a total of over 8 hrs on a trailer.
That poor horse was put through a lot of suffering before she was found dead in the stall. I wonder if a necropsy was done?!

  2. There are questions that demand answers to clarify just what the @#$& happened here.
At what point did they know she had a broken pelvis?
Was it necessary to transport her from Belmont training track to Cornell?
Why did they not euthanize her at Cornell?
How far is it from the training track to Cornell? Plus many more questions deserve answers.
It sounds like they forced her to endure the torture of a round-trip between Belmont and Cornell.
This is outright cruelty to a horse!!!!!
Rudy Rodriguez and everyone who enables him should be charged with Animal Cruelty. This is a prime example of how vomit worthy it is when anyone tries their lame attempts to defend this outright egregious abuse, brutality and cruelty to horses!
