“Clean up on Aisle 5” at a grocery store or “Vanned off” at a racetrack. The maiming and killing of a horse should not be treated the same as a spill at a grocery store.
It should not be Business As Usual to always be killing horses (and sweeping the horrific acts of cruelty under the rug) as if there is nothing wrong with it.

I remember the first time I went to a futurity trial at Los Al and saw a 2 year old break both legs at the knees. She flopped and rolled around for awhile and eventually the ambulance scooped her up and they moved on to the next race like no big deal.
There is an incredible amount of indifference and world class gaslighting.
The members of the California Horse Racing Board have a lot to answer for due to, among other things, not enforcing the law against maiming and killing horses.
