Using HISA as an excuse, we have been completely shut out in the states of Arkansas and Florida – the racing commissions there claiming that, while they are still the ostensible regulatory bodies at the state level, they no longer receive and maintain records on racehorse deaths. And one of the many problems with HISA, of course, is they only release numbers, conveniently withholding the names (and faces) of the victims. Cowards.
The above said, I do have other sources and have been able to confirm the following recent kills at Oaklawn:
Millers Rite, killed after falling in the 6th race Mar 9. He was four years old, and this was his 18th time under the whip. (Millers had actually been raced by trainer Thomas Vance and owners Michael and Linda Mazoch only eight days prior to this one. Bastards.)
Vittorio, killed after “[going] wrong late” in the 1st race Apr 11. He had just turned seven, and this was his 24th time under the whip.
Wanda, it would take a lot of digging through past charts many of which get deleted over a few years sadly. Many of the Thoroughbreds we taught to be ridden we cannot even find the horses charts because of the change in records when Equibase took over around 2,000. At times the change in records is very frustrating!

It stands to reason that whoever wants to be on a regulatory commission in Oregon would have to be Pro-Racing and maybe Pro-Slaughter, too.
Is it possible for you to share the names of the horses that have been raced back to back in Oregon?
In our state of Oregon we have seen horses run back to back days during the 1/2 mile bull ring county fair meets. Also in our state the most important qualification is getting along with Governor since in our states case she`s the 1 who appoints you to the regulatory commission!
So they use HISA as an excuse to stop keeping records on horses killed in their so-called sport, but what excuse do they use for allowing a horse to be raced only 8 days after the last time he or she was raced?
This whole industry and the people in it are disgusting and despicable and some more so than others.
What kind of training or skills does a regulatory veterinarian need when they are allowed to pass horses to race without having an adequate “rest” period between races? That’s not even the half of it. When the veterinarians are paid by the racetrack management to pass horses to race that are unfit to race, it’s not a sport, it’s a bunch of s***.
