The chart note for Beachfront Breeze in the 2nd at Laurel yesterday: “Beachfront Breeze bumped at the break, dueled to the inside of Dwelling Legacy, drifted out a couple paths while inside a pair of foes into the stretch, failed to keep pace near mid stretch, sustained a catastrophic injury nearing the sixteenth pole, then was euthanized on the track.” Seems to me when death is involved all that other stuff could have been omitted. Vile. Beachfront was three years old; ’twas her 13th time under the whip.
This is horseracing.

The jockey was INSTRUMENTAL in MAKING IT HAPPEN. The jockey is paid to push, coax, urge, in other words WHIP THE HORSE RELENTLESSLY during the race.
There is a saying, “if you seen’em one, you seen’em all” and although I haven’t seen the video of this race to know exactly how many times the jockey hit the now deceased horse, there are some jockeys that whip the horse they are riding repeatedly in rapid succession. It’s a disgusting exhibition of animal cruelty to horses.
Shocking they can document his demise in such detail. Even more shocking that the jockey let it happen.
Few races back from being off for carpal surgery……
Poor creature is another reason horseracing needs to made illegal, unprofitable and totally unacceptable.
It’s heartbreaking and depressing when a horse is killed by the so-called horsemen in this ruthless industry that exploits the lives of thousands of sentient beings every day.
People who don’t follow racing and/or Pari-mutuel gambling and the consequential killing of the horses, also known as gambling chips, may have many unanswered questions swimming around in their heads so the more details that are given, the better for the sake of being more informed. For many people, it is not enough to say that a horse is dead. People need to know the “who, what, when, where and why” of the every day horror and WHY so many horses have been killed and continue to be killed by racing them to death.
Not everyone follows this horse-exploiting industry on a daily basis and they deserve answers. Any information that helps them to comprehend what is going on in this industry that is inherently cruel is part of the puzzle and supports the need for horseracing to be banned.
The more information that is given leading to the death of a horse, the more of a case you have against horse racing.
And once again, you would never know there was a human being involved, would you? She did this all by herself. And I seriously don’t think horses have “foes.”
Have to admit you don`t write sear words very often. This description of the horse does become disgusting when they write of” foes, drifting, failing to keep pace”,etc. Agreed. The useless description of race is unneeded when the horse dies from catastrophic injury.
