Three more kills recently confirmed by the NYS Gaming Commission:
My Girl Jal, Jan 18, Belmont: “Horse experienced RF biaxial fractures during training on Jan 18. Due to a decline in health, euthanasia was elected on Mar 19.” So, My Girl was made to suffer for two months with multiple fractures – probably to save her for the breeding shed – before being euthanized. Bastards. She was four years old.
Boyofyourdreams, Feb 28, Vernon: “euthanized due to injury [while training].” Boyofyourdreams was four years old.
Mike N Ike Hanover, Mar 19, Saratoga Harness: “injured ankle [while racing], euthanized.” Mike N Ike was three years old.
Her abusers could have given her HIGH doses of phenylbutazone, but that has detrimental side effects.
MY GIRL JAL most likely had ulcers to begin with. To prolong her suffering for two months and administer drugs that exacerbate ulcers is willful abuse of a horse on top of the abuse already inflicted on her. It’s no wonder her health deteriorated.
It takes a morally depraved mindset to deliberately and knowingly force any horse to suffer, which this industry is famous for, and even worse to deliberately PROLONG the suffering.
These people who call themselves “horsemen” and mistreat horses this way make any of the rest of us truly ashamed to be called “horsemen” and therefore to be lumped into the same category.
There is no excuse for leaving a horse to suffer for two months. None.
These people should be in jail for sadistic cruelty to horses.
