“Pulled Up, Euthanized” at Gulfstream Yesterday

The chart note for Sail Theseven Seas at Gulfstream yesterday: “had a hesitant start, trailed in the three path, sustained an injury midway around the far turn, immediately pulled up, and was euthanized.” Dead, in the grass. Sail was two years old, and this was her 6th time under the whip. Those responsible: R. Larry Johnson, Michael Trombetta, Horacio Karamanos, and all who support this industry in any way.

  2. Pro-racing people who say that racehorses are treated like “royalty” appear to be completely unphased by the constant brutality against the horses. This industry is synonymous with causing racing specific injuries to horses.
    The idea of a king or a queen, a prince or a princess, a duke or a duchess taking a beating like a slave is outrageously delusional. It isn’t one bit logical.
    Racehorses are treated like slaves. Human slaves were considered three-fifths (3/5) of a person because they were owned by other people. They didn’t have the right to vote.
    Racehorses are definitely not treated like royalty; they are treated like slaves or a commodity with no say in what they want their lives to be like. They have no freedom to choose to not be locked up like prisoners 23 hours a day. They don’t have a choice to be owned by someone who doesn’t exploit them for their speed.

  3. The industry is long over due for a name change and the only truthful description is summed up by the tally of 10,947 victims. The business that bills itself as “The Sport of Kings ” needs to be renamed for what truth reveals what the business really is: “Murder Incorporated.” And, their motto should reflect what horse racing is and represents: The Absolute Worst Enterprise in the World (a disgrace to all humanity and to all nations).

  5. “Hesitant start”. She knew she was injured, and probably didn’t want to run. She probably got screamed at by multiple assistant starters, cracked with the whip, and screamed at by Karamanos, while he flailed her reins like a crazy person. So she took off, and because of all this, probably faster tban she normally would have, in the drive to keep up with the rest.
    And we know the end result.
