This past Monday, I reported on two ambulanced-off horses at Churchill last week. We now have further information from the Racing Commission:
“After being transported to a clinic for evaluation Nov 6, Splattered was humanely euthanized due to a catastrophic injury to her left foreleg.” Splattered was three years old, and this was her debut. Complicit in the kill: Fleetwood Bloodstock, Lael Stables, Wesley Ward, Gerardo Corrales, and all those who support the U.S. horseracing industry.
The very next day, “it was determined that Eighty West had suffered a catastrophic injury to his right hindleg, and he was humanely euthanized.” Eighty was just two years old, and this was his 4th race. Complicit in the kill: Stonestreet Thoroughbred, Dallas Stewart (and other owners), Luis Saez, and all those who support the U.S. horseracing industry.

Disgusting people…
Marie, I thought the same thing. Splattered??? Disgusting name.
Again, prolonging the trauma, pain, and terror to the equine chattel by pretending to be able to save the filly because there is a remote chance that she could be used and abused as a broodmare?!!!
Racing never stops being cruel.
The members of the Racing Commission(s) are also guilty of this diabolical cruelty to horses. Since racing is inherently cruel, and the commissioners know it, they could make the choice to walk away from profiting off the abuse and killing of Thoroughbreds as racehorses; disposable racehorses. It’s a matter of time when an individual horse becomes “unwanted’ by their exploiters, then it’s euthanasia or the slaughter pipeline for the “beloved” horse. Many times they are abandoned somewhere and starved to death or near death if someone else rescues the starving horse.
The NAMES of some of these poor horses!! When I read the chart for Splattered, I reached out to another HW supporter, and said, “Can you believe someone named this poor horse Splattered?!” It just brings up disgusting connotations, and when I saw she was a filly, I just felt it made it worse. Plus being with that creepy Wesley Ward made my heart bleed for her.
Sadly she is at peace now.
