At Finger Lakes yesterday, says the NYS Gaming Commission, Brink broke down while training, “necessitating euthanasia.” He was two years old. On a brighter note, the Commission relays, the weather conditions were 62 and sunny.
The Commission also reports the following injuries, which may yet turn into deaths:
Mytown Myrules, Oct 18, Belmont: “Horse broke down breezing near 7/8 pole, ambulanced back to barn.”
Firebreathingbrown, Oct 19, Aqueduct: “Horse reared up in gate, fell to the ground, and needed assistance to stand then walk into ambulance.”
Also at Aqueduct on the 19th, the following were “scratched” by the regulatory vet:
Thrill of It – “injured”
Provision – “injured”
Rakia – “injured”
Classic Cara – “injured”
Whocouldaskformo – “injured”
Unlimitedpotential – “unsound”
George Briggs – “unsound”
Iron Max – “unsound”
Capture the Time – “injured”
Dynadrive – “illness”
Grandpa’s Kid – “unsound”
In addition, two others – Whiskey N Soda, Call Me Harry – were scratched by private vets for illness. That’s a lot of injured or sick horses. And that’s just one day, at one track.

How much longer will it be until Finger Lakes racetrack is closed for a lack of horses to exploit, abuse, injure, kill and fill the race card?
All of the participants at Finger Lakes racetrack should be charged with Felony Animal Cruelty.
This supporting Animal Cruelty with government funds is a horrific miscarriage of Justice.
